I have re-adjusted the gear selector and so far so good it stays in gear.
It could be that this is just a temporary improvement.

Yes on my motor where the gear selector connects to the side of the engine there is a screw which fixes the selector lever in position if you slacken this off the lever can be moved in elongated holes to get your adjustment.
