" The motor would not lock in place and I noticed that when you operated the lever on the left of the motor it would move a piece up and down slightly by means of a long spring. The jaws would not lower enough to catch the pin. It had a metal hook that looked like a limiter of some kind and when I removed this the motor would lock and unlock properly. The limiter was parallel and next to the spring, is this limiter necessary and what is it's actual purpose? Charlie "

"Charlie.... That limiter is used on some engines when a power tilt or PTT is installed and the manual reverse lock mechanism is not removed. The reverse thrust in which case is locked in place by hydraulic pressure.

The exact engine(s) and year(s) go too far back for me to remember just which engines used that setup.... but you have solved your problem, that's what counts.
