ive been working on ship engines for a while now and your saying that you got no spark i can give you a few tests to try put spark plug with leads attacthed then rest on motor then give a pull or start you should bright blue spark if not give your spark plugs a good check it might be carbond up you can clean it with just a bit of very fine sand paper just sand the meatle bit on the spark plug then check your gap it should be not much thicker then a hack saw blade and if you got a battery i would check points it should be not much wider then 0.20 on the gap otherwise it will not fire thats about the size of a very thin bit of cardbord well let me know if this helps
