" I ran my 1990 25 hp Johnson without lube and burnt up the lower unit. If just the upper and lower bearings in the unit are burnt, is it feasible for me to rebuild it myself without special tools? Thanks. "

I have to disagree with Jupiter here. While it may be a tough job without a few special tools, it is possible to do this job. I know a few mechanics who do jobs like this regularly, and some of them don't even know what special tools are.
