" I'm working on a Johnson

" I'm working on a Johnson 55 outboard (probably about a 1970 model). The engine will start and run although not real smooth. Both cylinders are getting fire from the plugs and compression is fine on both. Both cylinders appear to be getting fuel as the plugs are slightly damp after running. What is strange is that the engine will start and run with both plug wires on or with the top plug wire and the bottom off, but it won't click a lick when the top plug wire is removed and the bottom plug wire is on. There is no noticeable difference in engine sound when running both cylinders or just the top. So how can I tell if the bottom cylinder is actually providing any power to the motor? "

" After getting it out in the water and tinkering with the motor for awhile, it appears the problem was mainly the throttle lever adjustments between the two carburetors were out of synchronization. "
