75 70hp evinrude problems

got a 70 3cyl ran good 1st da

got a 70 3cyl ran good 1st day out next day put in water got up to plane then fouled out center plug comp is 100lbs on all cyl figure carbs need cleaning so doing that now need to know if these motor are any count or are they a pain in the butt also what else should i look for the motor set for a year before i bought it

" Roger;Your motor is old enough to vote!They are very good engines but yours is 28 years old and what kind of care has it had? Cheap gas and cheap oil is never a good thing.If you starved a cylinder for fuel&oil you may have done fatal damage to it.Before going any farther pull ther cyl.head check for damage to cyl.bore,pistons,and cyl.head etc.Did you overheat it?Does your overtemp alarm work? took good care clean well gre

took good care clean well greased keep nside in garage when not used did not get hot no starving over feed with gas with a 100lbs pressure on each cylinder no damage to head ck all that just replaced head gasket for good measure think carbs was just dirty was problem just cleaned them
