" New boat with 50 HP Johnson 2002. I just added a new remote gas filter with a spin on Napa filter.
I seems to work great but a friend said it could hurt the motor and pointed that West Marine sells spin on filters specifically for Merc or OMC.
Why do Merc and OMC specify different filters? Can i do any harn running the generic filter, the motor is running great with the filter installed so I know its not too much restriction. "
