"Air is blowing out of my air cleaner on my Md7a volvo. Starts ok runs good no oil leaks. Mechanics say it could be ring blow by,a bad valve or valves or need a valve adjustment want to sail down to caribbean and don't want trouble could it be the timing is off? I have a Cav Injection pump. How do you set the timing? Any Help on any of these questions would be great.I also have fresh water cooling"

sounds like you have piston ring gas leakage mate, it's not going to be valve seals or bad valves. You may have glazing on your cylinder bores. there are ways to address that problem without pulling the engine down, if your engine has done lots of idling and low load running then that could be your problem.
Your injection timing has nothing to do with air coming out of your air cleaner, as far as I can ascertain. you need a workshop manual to show you how to set and adjust the pump timing. You should always have a workshop manual with every engine is my best advice.
