I'm a little puzzled by the spark arrestor in the VRO oil line. I don't understand why there is one in the oil line and not the fuel line. With that said can the oil line be replaced with a regular fuel grade line?

This is my first outboard so it's all new to me.

Thanks

it's not easy to see because it's inside the hose. From the repair manual:
"The spark arrestor on all models is installed in the pulse hose to the VRO pump. This flame arrestor prevents backfire flame from entering the VRO pump.A clamp positioned on the hose prevents the arrestor from migrating up the hose to the pump."
