"The owner's manual recommends 10W-30 or 10W-40. I have an AQ311 (basically your same engine) and I use 15W-40 mineral oil (not synthetic). Without entering to discuss the pros & cons of mineral versus synthetic, the reason I use 15W-40 is to maintain a better oil pressure when idling after the engine has been running hard.

By the way, the Mercruiser versions of the GM350s use 25W-40 oil. I guess they had a few crankshaft failures in the past when the 10W-30 and 10W-40 became too thin to keep a good pressure due to high operating temperatures. "
