"I am buying a used boat. I will be using it mainly for skiing. The guy I am buying it from gave me a choice of a 1989 Johnson Tracker GT 150, or a 1994 Yamaha 125 HP. Both are in good running condition. If they are equivelant mechanical condition, which one should I go with?"

You will want the low end torque of a V6 for pulling skiers out of the water.

"Lance, If the price is the same for the two motors, the newer motor is likely a better deal. Unless you boat is so large and heavy that the 125HP doesn't have the power to pull skiiers, and the 150 GT would (pretty unlikely) I would think the newer motor is better."
