Aq151 overheating

Been out in the boat today

Hi
Been out in the boat today and notice the tempeture gauge was in the RED!! turned around and dropped the rev's which helped a bit but it was still high. I check filter when I got home and found 2 bits of broken metal alloy they look furred up. The engine is an Aq151

Any ideas

"It seems like the water hose connector in the outdrive is gone and the raw water pump is sucking air whenever the boat goes on the plane.


Get the boat out of the water and replace the hose connector. It is PART NO: 18-2778 in the Sierra catalog.

Trouble is though it looks like it is only part of the problem. I have bypassed the joint with some air tight tube and it still would not draw much water and over heats.

Other than that, check that the hoses between the hose connctor and the pump are all in good contition and that the clamps are tight.

Also, check that gaskets 9 are in good condition and that flange 10 is tight.

And if the strainer is clean, make sure that the exhaust manifold is not plugged in the area where the raw water copper pipe connects at its bottom.
