"I am in the process of trying

"I am in the process of trying to repair An AQ130D (I believe) motor on a boat I picked up for a song and a dance. Pulling the head off, I found that the #1 cylinder exhaust cam follower had snapped in half, and the resulting follower part had damaged that cam lobe. I have been looking for a used cam, and found one supposedly off an AQ130C the number stamped on the side of it is 1-418207, the # on the side of my wore cam looks like 1000267. Was there a difference between the ABCand D engines, or is this a cam off an auto? It is the second one I've seen with the same number, both supposedly off 130C's Any help would be appreciated. I would like to repair this engine, because everything else in it looks real good. It does not look like that damaged cam follower hurt anything else."

"All the AQ130s (A, B, C, D) have the same model of camshaft, Volvo part 1218674

The Sierra replacement is part 18-1478:

If the first number you provided is 418707 instead of 418207, then it is a cross-reference of 1218674, which means yours is the correct camshaft for an AQ130:

The second seems to be a casting number, which does not say anything about the type of cam grind. "

"Thanks for the wealth of info

"Thanks for the wealth of info El, I checked the numbers again, and it is definitely a 418207(I was hoping that I had read it wrong) this cam is definitely for a B20 block, it is exactly the same congiguration as the bad one I pulled out(1000267) the difference is the one I pulled out the lobes look like they open and close the valves quicker (more of a v shape) than the new one which has more uf an upside down u shape. The newer one the lobes are about .020" taller also (wear on the bad one?)This all tells me that the 418207 breathes better than the one that came out of the engine Any idea which one might be more for a marine application? The bad one that I pulled out may have been the wrong one also(1000267) If I put the new one in, to try it any problems with that ? Also if I figure it out, I will try to post a picture or 2"

"Thanks again, just came in fr

"Thanks again, just came in from pulling the engine. I am tempted to give this cam a try, as I see on that link that you gave to me the marine cams on the AQ171 had a note that "Boat cam, lobes 0.7mm taller, 0.5mm fatter than standard cam", and that is what 418207 looks like, slightly taller and fatter. I am getting quite an education here, I also have the AQ140 engine, and after pulling the engine, was able to pull off the 130 exhaust pipe from the transom, and bolt the 140 exhuast pipe directly in. The bell housing from the 130 bolted right up also, so I may be able to adapt this engine fairly easily. I am sure I will run into snags, but it looks like it will be a faily easy swap. 2 options!! what to do, oh well beats the heck out of no options"
