My brother has 2000 model merc
My brother has 2000 model merc. 75hp Thats hard to start when cold and after starting idles rough until engine warms.Otherwise runs and idles fine after warm up.Plugs have been changed.He took it to the mechanic and told him the problem.The guy immediatly told him it was low compression.The compression was 100psi in all cylinders and he was told that it needed new rings.My brother is leery of the mechanics diagnosis because it came so fast.What I would like to know is what rated pressure should be and if this guy has misinformed him.Any potential solution to this problem would be appreciated.
