I am in the process of rebuil

I am in the process of rebuilding my carbs on my 1983 80hp merc. Everything went well now I need to adjust the floats. The old floats were that spongy looking material. The new floats are a little smaller & made of plastic. I can't figure out the adjustement diagram. It says it should be between .660 & .690 but from what surface to what surface If anyone knows where to measure from & what it should measure I would greatly appreciate it.

Hold the carb body upside down, with the float in place. Adjust the float so that the surface of the float nearest the carb body is parallel to the carb body.

Just finished & the Merc

Just finished & the Merc runs much better. I have not adjusted the idle mixture as it seems to run good where it's at!
