"Hi,I am wondering if a 60 hp has enough power for a 14'6" flats boat.I tested it and it had a hard time getting on plain.Its a 2004 2 cycle with 50 hrs.The marina says its just the carbs needing degunking,which they did.the boat weights about 900#+ misc.and two people.any info would be helpfull"

I have a 90hp on a 2000 lb Wel

I have a 90hp on a 2000 lb Wellcraft 18' that gets up on plane quickly and we do almost 40mph at 6000rpm in OCEAN...

I would think 60hp would get you up on palne no problem in that boat
