" Just bought a boat with a 90hp Mercury on it and curious as to exactly what I have, was told it's a six cylinder but really have no clue, plus would like advice on a decent manual on this motor. Thanks in advance "

"your motor is a 1984 in-line 6 Merc. They have been around for a very long time, and are very good motors, if properly maintained. You can buy a factory manual for it from Merc or an aftermarket one. I would recommend a factory one, myself.
