898 outdrive Milky oil

Milky oil means "Water Lea

Milky oil means "Water Leak".
You might only have a PIN size leak in upper drive unit. The problem might only be the seal on oil level plug. Normaly water works its way to bottom. Oil floats on top of the water.
You need to get All water out as soon as posible.
May be someone has other info to help you?

"Most service dealers can run

"Most service dealers can run a pressure test to find the exact cause of the leak. Many times it can be a simple thing as a round gasket on the drain/fill plugs missing or worn out. I have experienced the seal under the water pump causing leaks. All of this is repairable without costly tear down of the outdrive. However, get it fixed now. After returning from the water the first few times you go out (I'm assuming it is a trailer boat) check the lower unit lube a few times to be sure the repair is good. Gears and housing replacement can easily run over a thousand or two $$. Have a pressure test run now. !!!! If you have not heard any noise from the outdrive you are probably OK and found it in time to prevent damage."
