"How important is it to use genuine Volvo parts on a Volvo engine? In my case, the Volvo alternator specific to my engine is $800 and a marine grade Delco universal 68amp alternator from West Marine is $162. Assuming that it fits on the engine physically, is there any reason why I should not use the less expensive Delco alternator?
