My 4.3 has about 1300 hours and runs great. However I am concerned about the exhaust manifolds. They have never been replaced and the motor is a 1986. Should I go ahead and replace or is there some indication of them failing before total failure occurs?? This motor has always been used in fresh water and I fill the block with antifreeze when winterizing. How will I know they are going bad?

"The easiest way is to remove them and do a visual inspection, and look for any signs of obvious erosion or holes. Tapping all over them (inside and out) with a piece of metal will let you hear any weak spots, too."

I see manifolds that are 30, 40 years Old,+ in almost New Condition....."
