" Just replaced my impeller in my 77 mercrusier 233. After putting it all back together, I cannot move the shift lever to forward or reverse. I thought I had put the throttle in fwd before I dropped the L/U, but after I got it all back to gether, I realized that I had the throttle set in neutral/full throttle.

So how do I get the shifter and lower unit back in sync? "

" your going to have to pull the outdrive off again with the shifter in neutral. once you pull the outdrive off, put the shifter in forward and besure to get the outdrive in forward also. you have to rotate the prop counter clock wise and the shift shaft clockwise. shift shaft should be faceing 12 o'clock. slide the outdrive back on and dont let the drive slip out of forward. if you need to line the splines up on the drive to get it back in you can turn the prop slowly counterclock wise until it is aligned.
