Just purchases a 18' Four

Just purchases a 18' FourWinns with a 175 Evenrude Ocean Pro outboard engine.

On my old Merc 65hp I changed the waterpump once a year and believe I should do the same on the Evenrude. The marine parts guy says to purchase a kit that replaces everything. On the Merc I just replaced the seals and the impeller.

The impeller is $25 the kit $80.

Also what other things should I look for on this engine.

Replace the whole pump.

Replace the whole pump. That is a much safer way to go.

Make sure the engine cools properly. If the heads get too hot, remove the thermostats and replace them.

If you have carbs, make sure each one is supplying fuel and that there is no flooding.
