My friend just bought a


"Hi,
My friend just bought a 1976' 26'Trojan and is trying to replace the engine. He was given($300)this other engine and we are trying to figure if it will match.
The following is the model # on his engine.
LM318BVR15-370
I know the B signifies horsepower but how much..
Is the V for V-drive??
Is the R for reverse rotation ? Would a standard rotation motor have an S here...

"Attached is a manual from 1970, sort of explains all of those questions. I don't remember what website I got this from, if I can find it I will forward it to you. The B engine is the 220hp, the R (right hand rotation), the VR15 ,15 stands for a gear ratio 1.5:1 in reverse on the drive.
The Marine engine does has a steel crank and precisioned balanced car motors are not."
