"I've dropped the gearbox but how do I disconnect the drive shaft without breaking the impeller housing? And how the heck did Honda assemble the shift rod? does it unscrew??

"Gently heat the drive shaft w

"Gently heat the drive shaft with a propane torch, then try to tap it with a hammer or ?? to free it. To remove the lower unit completely, you need to remove the coupler at the end of the shift shaft. It is much easier to leave the coupler alone and just try to seperate the drive shaft from the lower unit. With the drive shaft off, the impeller is easily replacable. Just wait till you try to put the pin back in that holds the shift shaft to the shifting linkage!!!"
