" I recentley replace my 1993
" I recentley replace my 1993 Mercruiser 4.3 V6 175 HP with a remanufactured unit stating a direct replacement for 92-95 Mercruiser 220 HP. The difference in the engine are composite valve covers and the nes engins has a internal balance shaft were the old one does not. In order to mount the intakie manifols I had to remove the metal pan from underneath the intake in order to clear the balance shaft other than that the intake bolted up fine, howee it runs rough and only at low rpm, an backfire and sputters when you try to increase rpms.
My questions are, how do I dentify the heads could they be VORTEC heads and is this most likley the wrong intake manifold ? If so how do I identify the correct intake ? The engine does not use standard mercruiser serial numbering so I don't have a way to reference mercruiser data. Thanks, Kevan "
