I have a smaller aluminum 2 m

I have a smaller aluminum 2 man boat needs a motor. I found a 77 Johnson 6 horse in excellent shape. Compression is good & motor appears to be as new. I can pick it up for $100. is it worth it and will it push 2 men in a smaller aluminum boat. Thanks again Chris

"Chris.... The 6hp model is a very good design and is well worth $100 if all is well. Make it a point to check the lower unit to make sure there is no water or metal filings in it.

It will push a small aluminum boat with two men, but you're not going to break any speed records, however I think you'll be satisfied with its performance.

Gear lube is "HiVis" (80/90w) available at K-Mart, Wal*Mart etc. Use Champion s/plugs J6C, gapped at .030. Good luck.....

Thanks Joe...I think im getting addicted to thes older outboards. I will be getting that 6 horse for my boat making 2 good fishing boats at minimum investment. Will let you know how it goes Chris
 
I have the same motor...Only

I have the same motor...Only used it once but will keeep it forever for what I have in it...like you !! Runs like a new one.... Good Luck & I wouldn't pass on it.
