"Bob..... Normally (by the book) you would use a flywheel puller, but with a small engine such as what you have, there's another way. Loosen the flywheel nut and back it off until the top of the nut is flush with the top of the crankshaft threads. Now, with a large screwdriver, or some such object, apply leverage pressure to the bottom of the flywheel edge, then quickly rap the top of the nut with a hammer. Use caution so as not to damage the crankshaft threads. If your engine has the type nut whereas it is already higher than the crankshaft top threaded area, simply loosen the nut one turn and proceed as above.
