" My 9.9 Johnson cut out suddenly the other day and would not restart. After doing basic checks, I found that there was no spark at the plugs.

I have taken it to an outboard mechanic, and he said it was the powerpack that was defective, even though he didn't test any other parts. Is this the most likely cause? "

"Steve..... The powerpack is indeed the most likely cause of ignition failure (no spark). There can be other causes of course but the pack is number one on the list.

See if you can buy one off a

See if you can buy one off a mechanic with an old parts motor if you ahve not already bought the new pak. This will be substantially cheaper. I got good coils off of this old one a friend of mine sold me.
