" Last spring I shorted out the tilt and trim wiring (because I am stupid!) and replaced some wiring and the two small boxes that are the switches for the tilt and trim. that fixed the TT.

Well, I think at the same time I fried the voltage regulator? Am I correct? I just read the test on how to see if the voltage regultor is working, using the 9volt transitor battery and an amp meter.

so my question is would that be a correct assumption that the voltage reg. is gone and needs replaced? could it have fried anything else?

The motor ran fine last year for over 100 hours. It is just not charging...

thanks

" Dan: Easy Test: Take a volt meter and read battery voltage with motor not running - fully charged-12.7 volts. Then start the motor and check the battery voltage. If it is the same or lower, your charging system is broke. If you get a voltage "bump", like 13 to 14.5 volts, you're probably ok. Rectifiers can blow because of a short or reversed polarity. Good luck. "
