" I need to fit a new impeller on my johnson 9.9 longshaft. I have a workshop manual and it looks easy enough to do. However, I am concerned that if the plastic hose,(which carries the water from the pump to the engine), comes adrift, that I won't be able to put it back in place. Is there enough slack in the hose for me to replace the impeller without displacing the tube? If the tube becomes displaced, is it easy to put back? Is replacing an impeller easy, or is it best to go to a dealer?

I would be grateful for any advice on this job. Thanks. "

" The job is routine. Remove the bolts for the lower unit , drop the unit a bit and disconnect the shift coupling. The tube to the motor is copper , no plastic hose that i know of. "
