" Hi, I have a 30 hp mercury 4 st. Great runner! Quiet to troll with. It is a tiller model. I had problems with holding it straight because of the torque. I adjusted the fin under the cavitation plate. That helps on open throttle, but since the fin is at such an angle to correct that...at trolling speed if I let go, it will go to a right hand turn, even with the friction control on all the way. I'm running a 10 7/8 x 11 prop. Any suggestions on how to fix?? The torque is unbelievable on this motor! "

" balance the load in your boat,if it is pulling to starboard you have too much negative trim move some weight forward change the engine angle,tilt it out.you are fighting steering torque not engine torque as 4strokes don't have any torque but are very heavy!the only other thing is the engine may be mounted way too deep/too low on the transom,how far below the boat is the 'cav' plate? "
