" I am trying to get an old evinrude that was given to me set up and in running order. I had a borrowed 2 line tank and had this motor on the water last year. It would run decent for a minute and then it would buck like it locked up,shake the heck out of the transom, and then go right back to running normal again. I wonder if it is a problem with a coil or something breaking down for a moment and then straightening out again. I pulled the lower end off of it and everything looked good as far as gears. But back to my real question, an old man that did repair for me told me once that I might be able to convert this 2 line motor to a single line by changing to something I believe he called a sideplate. He has passed away and I want to pursue this idea. Sorry to ramble. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks "
