"I recently purchased a 1985 Cruisers 3380 with twin 454 Crusaders. My question is whether I should use a lead additive or not. I've recieved conflicting answers to this question.
By the way, I'm new to a boat this size and am very happy to find this forum. Any help will be appreciated!"

"Engines have had hardened valve seats for some time now. Even those without hardened seats, such as original engines in classic cars, do well with unleaded gasoline. In your case, I wouldn't give it a second thought"

"Thanks Eddie from Oregon, I appreciate the input. One of the reasons for asking is because I have the original operation and maintenance manual which states Crusader Marine engines can use any good grade automotive regular leaded or premium gasoline. I'm glad not to have to use a additive. Bill"
