"Just went through and rebuilt

"Just went through and rebuilt, head job, new liners, pistons, rings. Guaged the pistons to pull @ 5/1000's. Polished the crank, & new bearings. Put it back to gether, started great, ran @ 180 degrees for 45 min. put it into gear and ran @ 1600 rpm, then reverse. Everything worked great. Put it back into forward gear and slowed the throttle and it ground to a stop. Pulled everything out and there is a little scaring on #4, but nothing major, any ideas, thanks"

It sounds like the piston ring

It sounds like the piston rings were not gapped properly and when she heated up they expanded and seized up. Check your ring gap.

"I would also check the main bearings, and oil pump. Was a new pump and cleaned pickup installed. Either the pistons or main bearings could cause this. In the manner described."
