" Have a 20 HP Perkins clone running @ 2000 RPM with 3/1 reduction [660 shaft RPM] giving 4 knots in smooth water. I want to upgrade to 60 HP using same box and engine speed of 3500 to 4000 giving shaft speed of about 1200 RPM and guestimated speed of 6 to 8 knots. Boat is 52 foot ferro yacht. These figures seem to make sense to me,any comments from anyone with knowledge in this area?Gearbox spec is close enough to engine figures to be OK.Thanks in advance John. " John, If you upgade in HP you do not always gain proportionatly in performance. The best advice is call a good prop shop, tell them your existing setup, and with the new proposed setup, they can tell you what prop to use, or what to expect with a given prop. Good luck and keep us posted. Kim "
