"I can't seem to get the alignment tool to enter my splines at all, anyone had this problem, i checked both with a gauge and it should go but i can't get it to even start. i pulled motor rebuilt and put back, everything is in same spot, i have tried raising and lowering with no results. need help on this one how do determine which way to go or move it...."

You're trying to get the motor back into the boat with the drive on? Or is the motor in and your trying to put the drive back on?

"motor in drive is off. i got it close today, took forever. when looking thru back with a light it looks good no matter where i have the engine up or down. slowly got the alignment tool to go in kind of smooth but can't tell with the grease what to do now far as spline marks in grease on the end of the tool, how close does this actually have to be compared to perfect... one turn half a full turn of the adjusting nut, quarter.... just wondering.. thanks"
