"Having a problem with an 82 454 FWC crusader, is running out of fuel at lower rpm, and takes ages to start if sat for a week or more, have switched fuel pumps and filters am now thinking could be float level in carby - anyone had a problem like this before (runs fine at med-higher rpm)

Pull the carb and have it rebuilt, its not the float level at this age so much as junk and water that made it through into the float chamber thats the problem."

"Found the problem for those who may be interested! - as we were pulling the carb off for a rebuild i discovered a mesh filter where the fuel goes into the carb - it is a little "bucket" type filter like a thimble and it had a bit of hardened sludge in it, cleaned it out put it back together and the big girl is running like a dream!"
