" Thinking of converting 2001 evinrude 70 4-stroke efi to jet. A new jet pump is $1500. Is there a market for the lower end that will be removed? It's like new, what's it worth? Any problems with this kind of conversion?
Thanks "

" Matt,
There is certainly a market for your old lower unit, although I wouldn't part with it too fast. Although the jet outdrive has advantages in shallow water, it certainly has a downside. Performance will be reduced by about 20%. Handeling and maneuverability will be adversly effected as well. In the recreational performance world, anything that is running fast has a prop on it. If your boating needs warrant the jet then it may be for you. Make sure you verify your transom height before purchasing one and don't forget to keep that impellor greased. Good luck. "

That Evinrude four-stroke sev

That Evinrude four-stroke seventy is acually a Suzuki. That gearcase will bolt-up perfectly to a Suzuki - it's just a different color. You could also advertise it as such.
