"Hi,
I own a 1990 26' Black Watch with twin 318 Chrysler 240 hp engines.
Engine Serial numbers are:

Port K-1084363
Stbd K-1084391
Can anyone tell me where I can view a spec sheet on these engines?
These engines have under 600 hrs on them and still run great. What can anyone tell me about these engines (pro and con).
I am thinking of re-powering to new crusader engines and am hoping to get more speed and better fuel burn. Any suggestions??
Also, where might I get a manual for these engines?

Thanks for the help."

"Thopse are great running, long lived engines that will go 2,000 hours with proper use and maintenace. Newer, 350 cube Crusaders will be faster, but gas mileage will not be better (unless you go with fuel injection).

Andrew can help you with manuals.

Do you have the model numbers (not the serial numbers) from the engine nameplates?"

Hi Andrew
Sorry it took so long to get the model numbers.
Here they are

STBD LM318BWR15-051

Port LM318BWL15-051

I would appreciate anything you can tell me about these engines. As well as where I can get a manual.

Thank You

I am in the process of changing the spark plugs.
Does anyone know the proper gap and plug type for these engines?

Thanks

"LM318BWR15-051
  • M = Marine
  • 318 = Displacement
  • B = 4 BBL. Carb
  • W = Warner Drive (Hydraulic)
  • R = Right hand propeller shaft rotation
  • 15 = 1.5:1 Reduction
  • 051 = Engineering Specification Number
The service manual would have the specs. It would be the third one from the top on this page.

I'm not sure about the spark plugs, maybe someone else could jump in to confirm or correct. I show Champion RN12YC gapped at .035."

Thanks Andrew

The plugs that I pulled out are Champion RN9YC.

I do not know if they are the right ones though.

Thanks again
