"Hi All,

Page 8-23 of my Yamaha stern drive engine manual states that I should apply "yamabond 4" to the cylinder head bolts that extend into the water jacket. My local dealer sold me a tube of "hondabond 4" instead.

Does anyone know of a problem in using "hondabond 4" in place of "yamahbond 4" ?

Thanks - and merry christmas!"

Nope. Just don't let a Yamaha guy find out!

"They must call you fast becuse you respond quickly.

I have seen ads linked to some of your responses where they are selling 3.0 GM long blocks for $1,999. I find these offers very tempting when I see how the engine that I am trying to repair has been abused. (i.e. neglect to deal with water in crankcase, top surface of engine (below cylinder head) all scratched up, etc.) These new engines also seem to run at a higher rpm offering greater hp."
