" Thank you, Joe for your input regarding Boyesen reeds. I checked the p/n of the cam that is attached to the magneto armature plate. This cam is in fact the 30hp cam as it is marked p/n 326876. Have not had time to check the orifices in the carburetor yet.
October 31, you outlined a procedure for rudeafrican on timing a 1990 40hp Evinrude without running it. Could this same procedure be used in timing my 25/30 hp Johnson?
Since my motor is rope start I do not have a tachometer. I was wondering what your opinion of the ?iny Tach?is. Thank you again. "

"Johnnie.... I can't find whatever I had to say to "rudeafrican". However, if it was the timing setup that incorporated the 4° difference when setting the timing at cranking speed, then yes, you can set your timing in that manner.

The "Tiny Tach"?? Sorry, I have no idea what that pertins to.
