I just purchased a boat with a 50hp Johnson 2002 which has VRO but it is not used. Should I purchase the tank and use this capability or stay with the 50:1 manual mix. Plus"s and minus's of VRO. It seems to me the motors on manual mix seem to last forever. Maybe the extra oil does more good then bad. I don't do much trolling so plug fouling should not be a problem.

"Lance..... If the VRO is not

"Lance..... If the VRO is not being incorporated, there is not doubt a good reason for it which only the former owner would know about. However, my guess would be that the present VRO became faulty and was causing the warning horn to sound off.... so it was converted to a straight fuel pump setup.

Frankly, I'd leave it as is and mix the oil with the fuel. If you decide to revert back to the VRO setup, I'd strongy recommend that you purchase a new VRO along with the other items.

" Water and or debris in the o

" Water and or debris in the oil tank causes more
problems than the VRO/OMS pump. If the tank can't be mounted out of the bilge or weather, don't ues it!!
