GM Reverse Rotation Firing Order

I upgraded my ignition to HEI

I upgraded my ignition to HEI from the Mallory Point Distributor and the motor wont start but backfires. I later discovered that the GM 350 is a reverse rotation engine. Firing order for Normal rotation is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 and I tried reversing it to 1-2-7-5-6-3-4-8 but that didn't work either. Anyone know the correct firing order?

"Yep, your firing order is correct for right hand rotation. Backfiring after replacing the distributor is often caused by misaligning the gears when installing the new distributor.
