So I built an 11’ hydroplane (minimost xl) over the summer and put an 1980 Evinrude 35 hp on it. Boat is 76” wide at the widest (top of transom) and weighs about 200 lbs without motor or gas. I haven’t taken it out yet because of warnings about prop pitch. Prop on there is 10x13. Typically, this boat design will do 35mph with a 30 or 35horse. I don’t need to go any faster than that, but I don’t want to waste my motor either. Is the pitch ok or should I go more? I should probably install a tach.
If I use this same motor (I have 2) on my 14’ Starcraft aluminum, would the 13 pitch be ok for that one? Thanks
Stephen
