Hi all,
I have now experienced 3 voltage regulators go up in flames on my 25HP 1999 Mercury within a year. When the first original voltage regular burned, I replaced it with an original Mercury part. That died 3 months later. I then replaced it with another make voltage regulator, which lasted until yesterday.
My questions is: What can cause the engine to blow 3 voltage regulators within a year? Clearly something is wrong in the electrical system. I also changed the battery, when I changed the last voltage regulator, but clearly that was not the issue here. I have checked wiring and grounding, all seems fine.
Any help will be appreciated!
