Mercury 50 HP - Only runs on 3 cylinders until warm

I have a Mercury 50 HP, 4 cylinder motor, 1980’s (with brown stripe). For 6 years now, it has run on 3 cylinders for the first 5 minutes then all 4 for the rest of the day. It seems like once it is warmed up it runs fine. I’ve switched parts and wires to rule out plugs, wires and coils. I am wondering if it is the trigger or switch box. The Serial Number is 6452452.
 
Welcome to the age of electronics. This can be diagnosed with the proper equipment (DVA), and a manual. CDI Electronics offers a free and easy to follow on line diagnostics. How did you endure this for 6 years?
 
We live in a bay where we have to go trolling speed out to the main lake so it takes time to warm up. We have endured this problem because we live in a very rural area where service and electronic testing equipment is not easily available.
 
Pappy probably is right if you want to take a chance, he is one of our best techs.....loves Mercs.
