i have a 1989 seaswirl 19' sierra cuddy classic. when i bought it it was outfitted with a bait tank with water drawn through the floor of the boat under the engine. it has a thru hull fitting. i would like to get rid of the fitting and patch the hole. i have done some fiberglass work before and it is not a hard thing to do. But i need advice from an expert.Do i patch from inside or underneath? thanks for your time..

Ayuh,.... I just did a 1" hole in a cored hull the other day,....

I put a piece of tape on the outside of the hull, 'n poured in a homemade brew of epoxy resin, ground glass, 'n cabosil powder,...

It was runny enough to flow into the cavity, yet stiff enough to stay put inside on the slope,...

Marine-tex oughta work for a pre-mix epoxy filler,....

Agree that Marine Tex would work well. Clean out the hole well. Probably best to re-drill or file it out a fraction to make sure you have new fiberglass for the Marine Tex to adhere to. Press it in well and make sure you leave no air pockets. Once it sets, it will be stronger than the original fiberglass.
