I have a 1989 early model XR4 150. I was changing the seal on the shift shaft. The shaft lifted out and now spins freely. Not in the cam I am figuring. Is the bearing carrier nut left or right hand thread? Is there another way to fix it without disassembling the gear case?
 
Just a little more help plz. I recovered the cam from the gear case after some jiggling. What way does the cam go back in? Numbers up or down?
