Yanmar 2GM20 Strater problem

The nose assembly on my starter for my Yanmar 2GM20 keeps breaking. I have changed the starter twice with the same results. Is there a shim needed? HELP
 
That is so odd, take the starter off and rotate and inspect that ring gear for defects and burs, is that starter torqued down tight as a drum?
check the bendix also
