Optimax cowling repair

My Mercury Optimax cowling, 115 horse, manufactured 2011, is cracked. It is made of plastic, but what sort of plastic, I do not know. Thermoset? Thermoplastic? Do you know what can be used to repair it? Can it be welded? Glued? Will epoxy stick to it? Thanks!
 
You don't have anything to lose trying epoxy...just make sure it is clean and scuffed up....

The cowling is not waterproof as it has one ten inch long, jagged crack in the center of the front panel and a second crack on the port edge of the front. I am hoping to find out what company manufactures Mercury cowlings to get a lead on the plastic characteristics.
